Terms of Service

1. The service

Bankfolio is a financial data aggregation tool operated by Anish Nagesh trading as Bankfolio ("Bankfolio", "we", "us"). The service connects to your bank account via Open Banking (provided by TrueLayer) and writes your transaction data into a Google Sheet. It also provides AI-powered transaction categorisation using Anthropic's Claude model.

Bankfolio is currently available as a Google Sheets add-on for users in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to use Bankfolio.
• You must be a resident of the United Kingdom or European Economic Area.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
• One account per person. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit consent.

3. Account registration

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at bankfolio1@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that are inactive for more than 24 months, with 30 days' prior email notice.

4. Open Banking consent

When you connect your bank, you grant TrueLayer (an FCA-regulated Open Banking provider) permission to access your transaction data on our behalf. This consent is subject to TrueLayer's own terms and the terms of your bank. You can withdraw this consent at any time by disconnecting your bank from the Bankfolio sidebar — this does not delete your existing transaction data but stops future syncing.

Bankfolio never accesses your bank login credentials and never initiates payments on your behalf.

5. Subscription and billing

Free tier

The Free tier is available at no cost and includes daily transaction sync, AI categorisation, and up to 90 days of transaction history. We reserve the right to modify Free tier limits with 30 days' notice.

Pro tier

The Pro tier is available for £7.00 per month (inclusive of VAT where applicable), billed monthly via Stripe. The Pro tier includes full transaction history (up to 365 days), Spending Insights sheet generation, and Transaction Chat.

Payments and cancellation

• Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You can cancel at any time from the Bankfolio sidebar ("Manage billing") — your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
• All fees are non-refundable except where required by law (UK consumer rights).
• If a payment fails, we will retry and notify you by email. After repeated failures, your subscription will downgrade to the Free tier.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Bankfolio for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the service.
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the API beyond what the add-on itself does.
• Share your account credentials with others or resell access to the service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
• Submit false or misleading information during registration or billing.

7. Intellectual property

Bankfolio and its associated logos, designs, and software are owned by Anish Nagesh. Nothing in these Terms grants you a licence to use our brand or intellectual property other than as necessary to use the service itself.

Your transaction data belongs to you. We claim no ownership over the financial data retrieved from your bank.

8. Availability and modifications

We aim to maintain a high level of uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where we make material changes, we will give reasonable notice by email or in the add-on sidebar.

If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and, for paid subscribers, a pro-rated refund for any unused period.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that transaction data retrieved from your bank will be accurate, complete, or current — the accuracy of bank data is the responsibility of your bank and TrueLayer. We do not warrant that AI-assigned categories will be correct.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bankfolio's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

We will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Your data and account deletion

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Bankfolio sidebar. On deletion, your transactions, bank connection, and account are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days (excluding billing records required for legal compliance). 12. Third-party services

Bankfolio integrates with third-party services including TrueLayer, Anthropic, Stripe, and Google. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions or content of third-party services.

Bankfolio is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
